Like most traditional arch tops, the Universal B-1 is based on the same construction principles as that of a cello. The carved top and back plates act like diaphragms, vibrating, resonating and ultimately projecting a sound unique to this type of instrument.

Unlike most traditional arch tops the “Universal” is smaller and has a more contemporary, sporty aesthetic. And unlike it’s acoustic counterpart, the B-1 harbors two searing humbuckers. Plug it in. Hear the difference that a Bruton String Works, hand crafted arch top can make. It gets the name “Universal” because of its range and diversity in tone. It covers the gamut- everything from the ‘twang’ and ‘cluck’ of a Tele Deluxe to the warm smooth tones of a Gibson ES-175. Unlike some jazz boxes that tend to feed back at low volumes and at undesirable frequencies, add a little gain to the “Universal” and it will sing! Never ending, resonant feedback sustain in harmonics and frequencies so dynamic it’ll hurt your feelings.
