Gene starting playing guitar at a youthful age of 11 and building guitars by age 13 and you will find him to this day playing the music scene in his own home area. One may say it's a personal quest of his to help the world create the best guitar tones possible with instruments that are held in high regard for their tone, craftsmanship, attention to detail and are meant to inspire the musician inside of us. He still may be somewhat young but he comes from a strong lengthy background in the vintage guitar industry, having worked for both the Gibson and Fender Custom Shops until deciding to continue his career under his own brand names such as the original Gene Baker Guitars to the current corporation "Fine Tuned Instruments" home of the "B3" guitars of today. You will see Gene's works of musical art become a very prominent name in the high end guitar market for a long time to come.

DAG represents custom commissions for Fine Tuned Instruments. We can only handle a limited amount per year and they are on a first come-first served basis with typical wait times ranging from 6 to 10 months. If interested please call for a preliminary discussion in regard to the guitar you'd like to have Gene build for you. If scheduling permits and it's an instrument that Gene is interested in building, we will proceed to the next step and have you consulting directly with Gene to work out all the fine details, as well as pricing and deposits, before the build commences.
You wont regret owning your first, second or third guitar that Gene may build for you. Most find that they can't own only one of his fine pieces of work, finding themselves ordering again as new models become available. Being that his new company is very small, his time to communicate with customers is minimal so through Destroy All Guitars he will be offering limited runs of the instruments he will be building. The B3 comes in five flavors: Earth (from $4200) - Flat top model, Fire (from $5200) - Carved top solid body model, Wood (from $6100) - Chambered to Hollow body models, Water - Carved top/carved back hollow models, Metal - Neck thru models.
The B3 XS model is a true hybrid encompassing the very best features, woods, and electronics from two of the giants that have come to define the electric guitar, at least until now. Gene starts with an "S" type body made of the finest grade Korina and then adds to that a Korina set neck-thru topped with an aged Brazilian fretboard melting into the body via a heel carve that is smooth as can be giving the player access to all the upper register real estate. The electronics, again, with 2 Humbuckers and a middle position single coil, give the player the best of two worlds. The hardware package includes a vintage style Wilkinson tremolo as well as locking Sperzel tuners.
The XT is part of Gene's Project X "neck through" series. The "XT" is Gene's take on a classic Fullerton design. Like the XS and XS 3 X 3, the XT is built to allow you to play your best and fastest if desired. The neck is a players dream come true with super easy action and possibly the most welcoming easy upper access neck carve in the business. Take Gene's incredible skills, add to that the finest alder, maple and rosewood available, top it off with DiMarzios Area T pickups and you have one monstrous machine whose tone, playability and looks are certain to win your hands and heart as well as the ears and eyes of all others within range.
