Frank Hartung is a guitar maker out of passion. His professional carpenter training created the connection to the natural material of wood and provided him with the basic skills for what he does today. For half of his life he has been working with wood and since 2001 he has been building guitars. Wood is a material that fascinates and inspires Frank continuously.

The wish to become a luthier emerged after a far-reaching visit at Ulrich Teuffel's workshop, one of today's most inspiring guitar makers. Enthralled, Frank started to create and realize his own designs and brought forth the models Embrace, Enigma and Diavolo, as well as numerous custom models. Very soon Frank became successful, hip national bands such as Silbermond and international artists like Steve Stevens started ordering guitars from him.

The company FRANK HARTUNG GUITARS is based in Langewiesen, Thuringia, Germany, well known as the "green heart" of Germany because of the vast and deep forests. It is a rural area that gives Frank the peace and quietness to let his creativity bloom. He makes 15 to 20 guitars each year purely by hand - performing all tasks himself, from the raw slab of wood to the first note being played. This gives Frank the freedom to work with flexibility and respond to special requests, in order to make a guitar distinct and unique.

Frank builds modern guitars. He tries to create exciting shapes with logical lines and thus in part re-define the guitar. This results in guitars for individualists and those who love exquisite instruments, but of course also tools for everyday use on stage.

Frank Hartung loves what he does and hopes you can tell from his instruments.
