W.J. Jones Arcadia Skull and Roses

In William Jeffrey Jones' words:
"The plot for this story is based on the original Arcadia doublecutaway design of mine. I wanted to carve a more "goth" or horror inspired ornamental element without taking the theme too far and the Arcadia afforded me a nice canvas below the bridge in which to develop such a motif. I also chose to exhibit some restraint on this one, anchoring the skull and roses carving to the entire front facade with the inlaid lines of ebony, terminated in my whacked scrolls..."

W.J. Jones iO Longhorn

In William Jeffrey Jones' words:
"For this variant on my iO design, I've lengthened both horns slightly, used my 6-in-line headstock design, a 25.5" scale length, and P90s. The one-piece walnut top is also carved to a subtle arch that you can just notice in a few of the photos."...

W.J. Jones Daemon-Sassefrax

From the talented hands of William Jeffrey Jones comes the stunning yet affordable carved work of beauty with the entire body carved from Sassafras.

In William Jeffrey Jones' words:
"This guitar is the first I've built using sassafras for an entire body. It resembles oak or white ash at a glance, but it's much, much lighter weight than oak. And it taps differently. Oak seems to absorb the noise a bit, but sassafras really resonates. It's also an extremely stable wood - almost grey-green in color - that smells like camphor or mentholyptus as you work it..."

W.J. Jones Proteus

In William Jeffrey Jones' words:
"A Greek sea-god, Proteus was the shape-changing son of Poseidon. He could assume many forms, thus the word "protean" - a derivative of his name - connotes versatility and adaptability, both of which are traits this instrument is all about. It's perfectly suitable for everything from straight-ahead fingerstyle jazz to progressive rock. Its natural wood look and contours, typical of my guitars, lend themselves nicely to those players who might prefer playing their music on something elegantly organic and unique..."

W.J. Jones Syrena

In William Jeffrey Jones' words:
"The mythology and folklore of a wide array of cultures includes some form of aquatic, chimeric creature that is part human, the human portion usually that of a female. Similar to the siren in mythology, mermaids are often portrayed singing their lovely and sometimes deadly songs, enchanting men to their deaths upon the seas. The mermaid has become so interchangeable with the siren in a variety of cultures that the name for mermaid in many languages is a derivation of the word "sirena" or "syrena," as in the French, Spanish, Italian, and Polish languages..."

William Jeffrey Jones "Satyrn"

The title "Satyrn" plays off the small grotesque character within the trifoil that Jones has incorporated into the bridge tableau. The character - adapted from one of his drawings - is somewhat an amalgamation of a classic mythical satyr and a minotaur, lending its chimerical mojo to this unique guitar. The carving itself reminds one of an ancient Greek mask...

William Jeffrey Jones Nocturne for iO

William Jeffrey Jones is a steampunk at heart and values highly the philosophies of ornamentation from previous eras such as the Art Nouveau and Victorian periods. Even the over-the-top Rococo and Baroque ornamental styles have an appeal to Jones in tasteful doses. It's his delight to merge the classic styles - or rather, his own transmutation of the classic styles - with the contemporary electric instrument...

William Jeffrey Jones Doublecutaway "Arcadia"

Utilizing his Arcadia doublecutaway design as the platform, this semi-hollow instrument was created by William Jeffrey Jones to be a versatile jazz hybrid.

The top is a modestly figured big leaf maple bookmatch and the back is one-piece walnut. Both are hollowed like the halves of a clam shell with a block running down the center to create an extremely light and responsive body. In the photos, you can see how Jones leaves a complete block running down the center of the top, while breaking up the block of the walnut back..

William Jeffrey Jones Kronos

Kronos (frequently also spelled "Cronus") was the leader of the Titans and father of Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon. The origin of the name is unclear and may well be associated with the ancient Indian demon Kroni. All too often, Kronos is confused with Chronos, the personification of time.

This guitar is the next distillation of Jones' Kronos fretless concept which began with the first Kronos built almost exactly a year ago...
