All Kevin Green instruments are completely handmade. Tops and backs are carved inside and out using palm planes and spoke shaves. Necks are carved with rasps and drawknives. "For me, hand work is where the joy and sense of accomplishment lie." -- Kevin Green
When you place an order, you can discuss neck shape and width, pickup choices, voicing, or anything else that will make your instrument truly yours. As well, please feel free to discuss any request or unusual project you have in mind. This is what custom made is all about. All instruments are guaranteed against defects in materials and workmanship and applies only to the original purchaser, for as long as he or she owns it. Any repairs must be performed by K. Green Guitars. This warranty does not apply to damage due to normal wear and tear, misuse, accidents, modifications, or damage due to changes in temperature or humidity. Fret wear, strings, tuning machines and electronic parts are also not covered under this warranty.
Notes on materials and finishes:
Glues With an eye on the future of your instrument, hyde glue is used throughout. Hyde glue is very strong and flexible, but is easily reversible to facilitate ease of repair if your instrument should require it. A joint can be detached using either hot water or methyl hydrate. But don’t be concerned with strength. Many instruments built a century ago with hyde glue are still in one piece.
Finishes Finishes should also be easy to repair if needed. Therefore, Nitro cellulose lacquer is used and. if requested, French polish. Of the two, French polish is the easiest to repair and maintain (often with just a touch of alcohol in a polishing fad) but is not as durable as lacquer. Another advantage of French Polish is that it’s an all natural finish and will not harm the environment when applied. Lacquer yields a thicker, more durable finish than shellac (French polish) and is relatively easy to repair without completely refinishing an instrument.
