Koll Superior "Con Fuego"

"I was on a quest for focus and clarity. I wanted it tuff and snarly. I was after a thick, beefy and aggressive tone, and I wanted it all built on my Superior model. Beginning with a ringing one piece Alder body, I added a quartersawn maple neck with ebony fingerboard. The articulation is amazing! It screamed for a trem, so I added an old favorite, the Hipshot contour. I did my standard back route for maximum up-pull. I wanted an upfront and in-your-face tone, but didn't want full humbuckers, and felt I wanted something different than P-90's. I wanted cut, with beef...

Koll Superior "Fullerton"

Koll Korina V

This V has a spectacular Korina body with very interesting visual patterns and simply crushing tone. The fingerboard is truly old growth Brazilian. ( bought from a luthier's estate sale back in '71) and the finish is a thin skinned nitro. It has a Parchment guard with Saul's standard ebony veneer headstock. Medium jumbo frets. 12" radius and a nice round Gibson shaped neck. It's powered by a set of Lollar Imperials and comes in a TKL Prestige endbound hard case..

Koll Superior - Used

This Superior was built and set up for slide with a very large neck, and wide (2") nut. It is a very resonant guitar with a very simple construction of maple/alder/ and ebony.

Koll Custom Carved Top

In the words of Saul Koll: "The goal was to have a carved top instrument (like a LP) but without the sharp edge. First I carved the top. Typical carve top for me, similar to my superglide. For the back section, I took a piece of swamp ash and turned it into a wedge like some of today's acoustic flat top builders are doing."
