Louis Electric KR-12 Combo

The KR12 is an EL34-based, single 12” combo. It’s the result of Lou Rosano’s longstanding work with Hubert Sumlin and Keith Richards. Based on the M12 used by Sumlin, the KR12 has several gain options and unmatched headroom, but preserves the warmth of a more vintage style amp.

The KR12 is housed in a full-sized open-back pine cabinet. Mounting the Celestion Vintage 30 in a porthole delivers the focus of a closed-back cabinet, while the room fills with sound from the open-back design.

The forty watt KR12 has four gain stages and a very useable master volume. The “Gain” section input adds brightness and approximately 6db (+/-) of gain compared with the “Normal” section. Each section has two inputs which differ in level. You can achieve soaring high gain sustain or the grind of Chicago blues simply by changing the inputs. Like many Louis Electric amplifiers, the KR12 combo features an adjustable damping control which allows the player to literally dial in the amp’s mid- and lower mid- bloom.

KR-12 COMBO GAIN STRUCTURE PROCESS
- For clean sound plug guitar into normal input 1
- For slight increase in gain plug guitar into gain input 1
- For medium gain,leave guitar in gain input 1 plug pedal into normal 2
- For high gain,leave guitar in gain input 1 plug pedal into normal 1 at this point its best back the master volume down.

 
Louis Electric KR-12 Head and Bottom

The long-awaited head and bottom version of the award winning KR12 combo is offered in standard black as well as custom colors. A KT66 version is also available on a custom order basis.

The KR12 Bottom is a porthole, open-back 2 x 12” pine cabinet. Joints are dovetailed and made to the tightest tolerances available today.  The cabinet is loaded with Celestion G12H-30s and is covered in black tolex with salt and pepper grilles.

The KR12 Head and 2x12 Bottom represents more than just a separates version of the KR12 combo. The head is identical to the combo’s amp, but the interaction of the amplifier with the cabinet creates a sound that is truly unique to itself -- bigger, more detailed, more open.
