Lovepedal stormed into the boutique world of effects a few years ago, although Sean (Lovepedal originator) has been building guitar effects since the beginning of the boutique era. Lovepedal designs have always been praised for their ability to keep your original tone intact and simply add a top of the line effect to your existing tone.
Sean started designing his own circuits in late 93 - 94. Around that time RACKMOUNT ruled and Sean couldn't stand any of it. Everything sounded dull and uninspiring. As he got older he kept wondering.. "How come all this rack stuff sounds nothing like all the great guitar tones I have heard on recordings for years?" It became apparent to Sean that he would have to learn how to build things that would keep him interested in playing.
He began by maxing out a Radio Shack credit card to the tune of $3000 and blew up everything he touched for a good 5 years before he had something that actually excited him.
That was the FAB 50.. a one knob pre amp that would do a very amp-like cranked vintage Marshall sound to edgy fuzz with one simple control.. "The thing just felt so good in my hands and it was addicting to play, it inspired me to play.. I had recaptured that magic of the great guitar tones."
Sean is an intuitive designer who tends to focus on things that he himself has a use for. His approach to engineering is; "always start with a new core, branch out, push the limit, see what happens and most of all, use my ears." Also, the end result has to be different in tone and feel than existing units he makes.
Lovepedal effects are notoriously high quality and unique. When asked what he thinks the secret to guitar tone is Sean replies; "less is definitely more."
Lovepedal Balance Ultimate Preamp
The Balancel is the ultimate pre-amplification unit. It has an on-off stomp switch and a volume knob. It is the most transparent pre-amp, clean boost pedal on the market. It will enhance the sound of any amplifier without altering the tone of your guitar. It has the ability to act as a clean boost, or with the volume pushed higher it is capable of pushing any amp into beautiful harmonic breakup, overdrive and distortion.
While it has an un-mistakable vintage tendency, it also has a unique voice. It blends a germanium treble booster and a fuzz in a single pedal. Not only do you have these two tones at your fingertips, you can BLEND them. This may sound simple, but the results are nothing short of stunning. This mix makes for some very tasty fuzz/boost tones.
