| | ~ Terry C McInturff Guitars ~ Terry McInturff graduated from Roberto-Venn School of Luthiery December 1977 and accepted his first full-time repair position at Oxbow Music in Chapel Hill North Carolina January 1978. He spent the next 11 years working full time at repair/restoration (The BEST education possible!), 9 of those years self-employed. Terry’s was the sole CF Martin authorized repair shop in Philly. In 1989 Terry was offered a position in PA to work with the brilliant Mike Dresdner in his shop, subcontracting the assembling/spraying of the entire Ken Smith bass line. Mike and Terry also worked with CF Martin to prototype the neck for their then-new acoutic bass guitar...the first such design/subcontact work in Martin history. When Mike Dresdner was bought-out by Ken Smith, Frank Untermeyer (President of Hamer) heard Terry was available and made him an offer that he couldn’t refuse. They relocated Terry to Chicago where he went to work as their custom builder. Terry worked with Hamer for approximately 2 years where his main focus was on custom designs and building. Terry C. McInturff Guitars was incorporated in August 1996. He had shown at the summer Namm the month before. At that time, he was the only experienced electric indie showing! From 1996 through to 2003 McInturff produced 3000 guitars. The facility during those years was 6800 square feet with ten workers. It was a tremendous education, providing vast experience in the areas of production techniques, design, sales and marketing. Terry has taken all the above knowledge and experience and is now applying it to a new business plan with new designs and build techniques that are far superior to those of earlier days. During the recent renaissance of electric guitar lutherie Terry has seen the rise of new builders "with something to say," and Terry is delighted, as he loves this instrument, and he admires the luthiers involved. “The market is very different now...better, I think. And I look forward to dealing with the challenges that re-establishing my marque will entail.” DAG REPRESENTS CUSTOM COMMISSIONS FOR THIS BUILDER!
