3 Monkeys was started two years ago by three founding members...Brad Whitford of Aerosmith, Greg Howard (Brad's long time tech), and Ossie Ahsen (Blockhead Amps).

"Our desire at 3 Monkeys is to produce an original design with an original sound that has its roots in classic rock, no Dumble, Wreck, Fender, or Marshall clone here. The amp we have developed is a 30 watt four 6V6 head with a unique six position voicing switch (which changes both gain structure and resonant peaks) and a great sounding reverb (not too wet). The design is unlike anything in current or past production and has the ability to go from jazzy cleans, to Humble Pie, to Angus Young, and a few other places (Aerosmith of course), all with the adjustment of the voicing  switch. The amp has been fully tested and evaluated by a large number of pro players since 2007 and we have taken many cues from them in the refinement process. We feel that the amplifier in its current form is one of the best sounding heads out there, and best of all it will be available at an affordable price. The amp is completely hand built here in Raleigh, NC." - The 3 Monkeys

3 Monkeys Orangutan - SHIPPING NOW!
The Orangutan is a dynamic four 6V6 amp with a unique six position rotary VOICE switch that changes both the gain structure and the tone as you rotate it clockwise. The VOLUME control interacts with the VOICE switch to produce shimmering cleans and smooth overdriven tones. The BASS is more like a global low frequency control, while the TREBLE acts as a cut. The LIFT switch disables the BASS control to provide boost and clarity. ROOM is a focused reverb, no surf wash here. While this amp is no high-gain monster, it is rooted in the classic tones of 70’s rock. Not trying to specifically mimic any one amp, the Orangutan has it’s own distinctive voice, suited for both stage and studio.
