The End Of An Era

This is the very last of the GVCG Laurel Canyon Guitars. There will be no more from this shop as July 1st is their last day in the shop. It's a rather emotionally charged day for Jonathan and this is the guitar that marks the occasion. A royal screamer weighing 6lbs 5oz, it's one that Roy Buchanan would have loved to had his hands wrapped around.

- Amazing straight grained southern swamp ash
- Ultrathin 100% Nitro paintjob, done in a tribute to the edgeburst of Redd V's '53
- .990 Large Profile  hard rock maple neck that is highly rolled
- the neck aging is amazing on this one, I worked long and hard on this neck-
- Ultrathin Nitro neck finish, 7.25 to 9.5" radius and Dunlop 6105's
- GVCG/Lollar Alnico 3 Flatpoles, microphonic and amazing
- CRL 3 way, NOS Belden Wire, CTS 250k's, NOS wax tone cap, NOS Dakaware switchtip
- NOS nickel screws throughout, every one meticulously aged
- Hand machined Brass saddles, aged to perfection
- aged and lacquered Bakelite guard

The aging is great on this one, lots of subtle depth, distant checking, the color is spot on for '53. The playability and tone surpass all but the most special original examples - this guitar sounds like only a Blackguard can, and this weight and balance is perfect, the guitar sounds "alive." This is one of the finest '53's to ever come from Jonathan's shop, and among the lightest in a long while. If you want a no excuses representation of what GVCG is all about, this is it, and of course is the last guitar from the Laurel Canyon Shop, Jonathan had a great run there, made many amazing instruments, but alas, must move on!!!
