| DestroyAllGuitars is excited to have been chosen to represent Flaxwood Guitars of Finland, who have made what is quite possibly the most significant guitar innovation in a generation. In Cliff's words - "I approached the Flaxwood booth at this year's NAMM with an open mind, not knowing what to expect, and I was quite taken with their guitars. I spent several hours over the course of the convention sitting and playing the various models, and just couldn't get enough of an extremely good thing." Flaxwood has developed a line of guitars made from a wood based, man-made composite tonewood, which has all the uniformity and stability of graphite, yet maintains and projects the warm, resonant, clear and open vintage tone of high quality wood. The culmination of five years of hard product development, the Flaxwood guitar is made in eastern Finland, in a town called Joensuu. The production of the guitar is a meshing of old-school luthiery and the latest mold-injection technologies. In the process, Flaxwood has come up with a patent for something many thought impossible: to create a resonant, warm sounding, environmentally friendly raw material (no rare hardwoods are used) that can be used with modern, mold-injection technologies, and at the same time, produce instruments with great playability and gorgeous, wood-based tones. The material is actually an environmentally friendly cocktail of fine common spruce pulp and a polymer binding agent, a "mold-injected spruce". Wood grain, which normally forces sound to travel in a biased direction, according to the direction of the "lines," has been removed from this material, thus the material resonates uniformly in all directions, giving it an even frequency response and a warm resonant tone. It also contributes to a lack of "dull spots" on the neck, and gives the guitar great sustain. The material is also hermetically sealed so humidity does not affect the guitar. The end result is a truly remarkable "boutique" quality instrument with a much more affordable price point. |
Models range in price from $2300 to $3300. Great tone, great playability, great feel and look, and a consistency from guitar to guitar that was simply not possible before Flaxwood. DestroyAllGuitars is thrilled to be representing such revolutionary and evolutionary instruments." Click here to visit the DAG Flaxwood section for more information. |
