The Arboretum model is offered as a modern nylon string guitar. It features traditional tone woods, a mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, and Torres influenced fan bracing, as well as a 15" lower bout width, cutaway, two way adjustable truss rod, and B-Band Undersaddle transducer pickup system. The Arboretum projects a powerful and complex voice, balancing brilliance and warmth.
This classical guitar is one of the great Scharpach masterpieces. It took about 15 years to develop this guitar, during which a completely new approach to the instrument was developed. It could be argued that this is an entirely new type of classical guitar. It features unique constructions, like the double sound-table resonator, separated by a bracing system from the back of the guitar, or the new semi-cutaway.
The dolphin got its name by the special shaped fingerboard that extends over the soundhole. The idea for this guitar came from a respected friend Mr. Uwe Kropinski. He ordered in 1990 a 4 octave guitar with a scalloped fingerboard and that is what he got... In 2001 a new design of the same concept was successfully made for Uwe Kropinski. Scharpach and Kropinski agreed that there is in fact no superior nylon string on the market which is not a classical guitar. And there is a small need by jazz and/or pop artists to perform on nylon string guitar which has the superior acoustics of a classical concert guitar but with features that would accommodate their own way of playing.
This beautiful model was born out of a commission and a desire to create a guitar that combines the drive and thump of an archtop, the warmth and depth of a nylon, and the breathy throaty sustain of a Selmer-Maccaferri. The result is amazing! With a unique bracing and graduation technique that Ryan developed, the tone is an exciting extraction of the above guitars. The top is of an aged hand-selected spruce, the back and sides are European maple. The aesthetic is very striking with the rich, dark cocobolo against the black ebonies and white soundboard and maples. The neck is slightly narrower then a classical guitar at 1 7/8”. The action and playability is very smooth. It works great for fingerstyle or plectrum playing.
"The Genesis model incorporates a bracing system whose foundation was inspired by the work of Richard Schnider and Dr. Michel Kasha. Tom Bills first learned the Kasha style of building from Boaz Elkyam one of Richard's former students, the main collaborator at present with Dr. Kasha, and master luthier in his own right."
Nylon string acoustic/electric, featuring a proprietary bridge transducer. The "ampjack" preamp, from Fishman, is fed through a tone control system designed by Wendler. Body features are the same as the rest of the electroCoustic series. Cast plate tuning machines and beautiful cocobolo appointments round out this fine instrument. Scale length, fretwire size, nut width and fretboard radius are at the discretion of the customer.
