In the words of luthier Saul Koll: "I was lusting after the classic Strat tone. I wanted accuracy, brightness and punch with a very vintage vibe. I wanted a focused bell-like tone. This Superior provides all of that and more! Classic country, pop, and surf tones are all there. Add a little distortion and you are in Hendrix territory. I reversed the angle on the bridge pickup to match that upside down Jimi tone. It warms up the trebles and tightens the bass when you are on the bridge pickup. The "in-between" sounds are especially luscious, and I added a push-pull to get the neck and bridge combo. I moved the output jack to the back to unclutter the top. I moved the 5-way selector to the upper horn, sort of where you'd find the switch on a Les Paul."
"Almost everything on this guitar was invented or thought up on the spot. I started with the fundamentals of a very classic platform, and then added my personal frivolity and humor. That day, there was a tone in my head, and an itch in my hand. This is what I came up with. Hope you enjoy it! Truly one of a kind." - Saul Koll
