BC Kingston Fusion

Ted McCarty ran Gibson Guitars from 1950 - 1966, a golden era even in that company's long and proud history. Many would argue that the highlight of his tenure was the introduction of the "335" thinline in 1958. These semi-acoustic guitars have a solid maple block through the center of the guitar designed to emphasize solid-body type sustain and to minimize feedback. The hollow "tone chambers" provided a depth of tonal colors not possible with solid bodies. The Fusion is Kingston's take on this venerable guitar....

Cp Thornton Blues Queen (Semi0Hollow Archtop) - $4032

“We call it The Blues Queen, but one Thornton owner in Austin, Texas has nicknamed it his Bad Girl. This Blues player’s dream guitar is right at home turned up loud and belting out blues licks. The unique design combines a Semi-Hollowbody without F holes, Mahogany for woodiness, Maple for brightness and sustain, and Lindy Fralin P-90s to capture it all.” -Chuck Thornton

Cp Thornton Elite (Semi-Hollow Archtop) - $5330

“The Elite is an all Curly Maple guitar that has fantastic sustain and punch. My unique Ebony Tailpiece option gives a little more warmth and woodiness to the tone of the guitar although if you do a lot of string bends you will probably want the traditional stop tailpiece." -Chuck Thornton

Cp Thornton Professional (Semi-Hollow Archtop) - $4368

“This is the most versatile guitar I make. I have heard this instrument play so many different styles and it seems to do them extremely well. I heard this smoking player play Country, Blues even B-Bop to ZZ Top on this guitar and he had fingers and ears that wouldn’t quit. This guitar seemed to give him all the tones he was looking for." -Chuck Thornton

Cp Thornton Professional Acoustic (Semi-Hollow Archtop) - $4470

“I set out to design a guitar for the player who uses both electric and acoustic tones. I worked for an Acoustic guitar company for about ten years and Dana Bourgeois told me that the most recorded guitar in Nashville was the Martin D18 because Mahogany and Spruce recorded better than Rosewood and Spruce." -Chuck Thornton

Cp Thornton Professional Acoustic II (Semi-Hollow) - $4625

"One day my friend Denny Breau and I were talking about an acoustic gig he had coming up and he made a comment that an electric guitar equipped with piezo pickups is great for the electric player who needs an acoustic sound. But, he said, you can’t play it like an acoustic because it has electric guitar strings and you can’t dig into them like you can acoustic guitar strings." -Chuck Thornton

Dismal Ax Barnstormer

After World War I, and before aviation regulations, many former military pilots bought surplus planes from the government and toured the countryside performing daring aerial stunts. They were called Barnstormers, and these guitars are a tribute to them, the planes they flew and the barns they stormed; blending the rough textures of the barn into the sleek, spare lines of the plane, the pilot having bailed shortly before the calamity...

Dismal Ax Muleskinner

Mules were the backbone of overland transportation in America before the advent of the steam engine and remained a vital part of logging and agriculture long into the era of the iron horse. They are, however, much smarter and less cooperative by nature than their mechanical counterparts (though nearly as tough) and they typically require something other than sheer brute force to convince them to perform the tasks put to them. This was the domain of the muleskinner; to outsmart, or skin, these ornery beasts and keep freight moving across the expanding frontier at two miles per hour...

Dismal Ax Rusticator

In Maine, the term rusticator refers to those folks who came from the big cities in the summertime during the late 19th and early 20th centuries to enjoy a bucolic lifestyle, but without abandoning the creature comforts they were accustomed to. This series, then, represents the upper crust of Dismal Ax and is where the rustic motif gets blended with other themes and styles...

Gene Baker / Fine Tuned Instruments b3 "WOOD" MODEL

The "Wood" model, in our opinion, is one of Gene's greatest achievements. This guitar sounds bigger, deeper and richer than most any 335 style guitar or for that matter, any semi to full hollowbody rock/blues/jazz guitar out there. It's neck pickup truly dwarfs the finest 335 style guitars we've put against it and it's bridge pickup is dramatically fatter, rounder and warmer than that of any other in it's class. This is simply one of the finest sounding instruments available!

Giffin 12-String

This guitar was really a labour of love! Having been a 12-string freak since "Walk right in" by The Rooftop Singers in the early '60s and the wonderful sound of The Byrds - Roger Giffin knew that he had to make the ultimate electric 12 string. It had to have a neck that you could actually play on! It had to have a big, ringing, jangly sound - which meant a  hollow body.  A hollow body, though, usually meant unwanted feedback, so Giffin designed his uncoupled, isolated bridge mount, which effectively cut out almost all unwanted feedback while retaining the full hollow body sound. The neck is not too big, not too thin, the string spacing is accurate and comfortable...

Giffin Valiant

In Roger Giffin's words:
"After many years of being asked 'Can you build me a Les Paul?' and having to politely say 'No,' I made time at last to design something that would fill this obvious gap in my model range. It had to follow certain well established criteria without stepping on any toes, so it took a while to finalize, but I believe the outcome was worth the wait..."

The Argonaut, the doppelganger of the Daylighter Hollowbody, is the pinnacle of Kauer's Daylighter Hollowbody development. Completely hollow save for a block directly under the bridge and tailpiece to join the front and back together, the Argonaut features 60% more interior volume than a Daylighter Hollow while only growing 3/4" in the center and 1/4" deeper at the tip...
