~ Shaw Amps ~

Kevin Shaw is the sole owner and operator of Shaw Audio. He has been a guitar player and amp tech/builder for over 25 years. According to Kevin, "Thankfully, over the years, I got a lot better at amp work than I did at guitar playing." Since the first time he picked up an electric guitar, he has been on a quest for better tone, and it led him to repair, modify and build more amps than he can count. He does all work in-house including cabinets, coverings, and amp assembly. He also works as technical director at Encounter Church in Lebanon, TN where he has the pleasure of working with some of Nashville’s best local musicians. "I have been married to my wife Amy for 25 years and we have two sons, Isaac (15 year old- guitar player) and Ben (13 year old- bass player). I am a follower of Jesus Christ and try to operate Shaw Audio according to His teachings" Shaw says.

Shaw amps are hand built one at a time using a mixture of new and vintage components. When available, Shaw uses vintage Hammond transformers and chassis and then builds up each amp from scratch using carbon film resistors, Sozo, Sprague and silver mica tone caps, JJ’s electrolytics, micalex tube sockets and Cliff and Switchcraft jacks. Most all of Shaw's amps are true point to point construction with no turret boards and very little wire. He goes to great pains to keep hum and noise to a minimum. Tolexed cabinets are made from birch plywood. Natural wood cabinets are finger-jointed from mahagony, pine, walnut, or other special order woods. This blend of old and new, as well as vintage hand-wired construction, make each Shaw a unique, one-of-a-kind creation.

Shaw works closely with players based in the Nashville area, and others via the internet, helping them achieve their own personal tone.
