Designed from the inception by veteran finger stylist Jim Soloway to be a true player’s guitar, the Soloway is a remarkably comfortable and well-balanced guitar. It is also wonderfully lightweight, tipping the scales at just 5 to 7.5 lbs (depending on woods and configuration).

Whether you’re after pristine cleans or gain-drenched distortion, the unique tones of the Soloway guitars provide a wonderful and unique alternative. But perhaps it’s best to read what a couple of well-respected, independent third parties had to say.

DAG represents custom commissions for Jim Soloway - limited to variations on the Swan shown below. We can only handle a limited amount per year and they are on a first come-first served basis with typical wait times ranging from 6 to 10 months. If interested please call for a preliminary discussion in regard to the Swan variation you'd like to have Jim build for you. If scheduling permits and it's an instrument that Jim is interested in building, we will proceed to the next step and have you consulting directly with Jim to work out all the fine details, as well as pricing and deposits, before the build commences.

Soloway Cygnus

The Cygnus is a bright, clear guitar with a lot of high end sparkle. The pickups should not be confused with Gibson-style mini humbuckers. According to the Lollar site the "Firebird® Humbucker Pickups use a unique design with a sound that resembles a fat single-coil more than a full-size humbucker.". .

Soloway Hollow Body

Soloway's new hollow body is not really a model as much as a new construction method. The only limitations from this design are the need for a top mounted pickup ring for bridge and middle position pickups and the inability to accommodate a trem bridge. Otherwise, it can be used with most of Soloway's configurations. . .

Soloway Swan Classic

The Swan Classic is where it all began for Soloway. It's also their most versatile guitar with the most options available and tones ranging from traditional humbucker warmth to single coil bark. . .

Soloway Radius

The Radius, with its Walnut top and humbucking pickups is sonically the warmest of the Soloway guitars. While it still maintains the string to string clarity that is the Soloway sonic signature, the Radius is firmly in the tonal camp of the traditional humbucking type guitars. So it's the best of all worlds: both warmth and clarity in light weight, well balanced guitar. . .

Soloway Jazzwing

The Jazzwing is a practical replacement for a traditional archtop. It is feedback resistant, durable, consistent and extremely comfortable both sitting and standing. It produces a harmonically rich tone with strong acoustic overtones. . .

Soloway NYA

Whenever someone orders a guitar from Soloway, he always discusses what they're hoping to achieve musically with the instrument. From that, Soloway tries to recommend the most suitable configuration of woods, pickups and controls. This time, it was Soloway's turn. He set aside all of his preconceived notions and considered all of the qualities he personally was looking for in his ideal guitar: light weight, comfort, balance, warmth, clarity, a tight low end and sparkling highs.
