Thomas Blug has been a sought after artist in the German and international music scene for many years. In 1997 he was awarded "Best German Rock-Pop Guitarist” by Deutscher Rock Musik Verband. In 2004 celebrating the 50th birthday of the Stratocaster, Fender held a Europe-wide competition to find the “Strat King of Europe.” Of course, Thomas won the competition and still holds the “Strat King” title.
During the past 20 years, Thomas has performed with international greats like Percy Sledge, Bobby Kimball and Hazel O' Connor, German acts like Purple Schulz, actor/singer Uwe Ochsenknecht, the Rainbirds, Bastiaan Ragas, Pop newcomers like No Angels, Planet Claire or Germany's No.1 female rappers Tic, Tac, Toe (opening for Michael Jackson in his 2000 European tour).
Besides live performances and studio projects, Thomas produced several solo albums including "The Beauty of Simplicity", "Electric Gallery" and "21st century guitar" which made him a respected artist known for his ‘powerful and expressive guitar playing, emotional live performances and great song writing’.
2002 saw the start of the Thomas Blug band with some of Europe’s finest instrumentalists including dutch legend Thijs van Leer (Focus) on B3 Organ and flute, Raoul Walton on bass, and Wolf Simon on drums. They released "Thomas Blug band live in Holland" on DVD and CD. In 2009 the Thomas Blug Band released the brand new CD "Soul & Pepper."
In addition to his main role as leader of the Thomas Blug Band, Thomas also writes and produces music for TV and radio and since the late '80s has also worked as sound designer and endorsing performer at music fairs around the globe under the German amplifier company Hughes & Kettner. Known professionally for his drive, ambition, inspiration and global sophistication, Thomas Blug is a versatile performer with a gift for delivering excellence in both artistic and technical musical projects.
When Thomas "sings" with his guitar, he touches your heart and soul like no other. Some people discribe his style as a "raunchy Jeff Beck preaching with the warmth of Santana in a spacy world of Pink Floyd."
Thomas is the creator behind the wildly successful BluGuitar Amp1.
