With more gain than the Gladius JTM 65 MKIII, the JTM 66 MKIII is the classic blues rock amp!
The JTM 66 MKIII derives from its features and design from the Marshall JTM 45 from 1966. It is equipped with a classic ECC83 preamp and as is standard on all Gladius amps, the unique Variac power reduction which allows the user to scale smoothly from 0.1 watts up to 30 watts (continuously variable). In addition to hand wiring, only the world's very best output transformers, power transformers and state of the art tubes are utilized. Similar to the Gladius JTM65, the KT66 tube is used, albeit with more gain, which of course meets the requirements of blues-rock players. The guitarist who thinks the JTM65 sounds too "nice," or the JTM67 sounds too "rocky," will be very pleased with the purist-oriented Marshall sound of the JTM66.
An indispensable extra feature is the channel-patch that internally combines both channels (bright and normal) without having to use a conventional external patch cable. Plugging into either the Hi or Lo inputs patches your signal to both the bright and normal channels which can then be controlled via their respective volume knobs.
The rhythm-Lead function (clearly visible through different colors from the pilot light) together with the two different inputs, creates 4 different sounds in one unit which can easily be switched.
As the name already suggests, in this setting the complete vintage sound up to 1966 is covered. The sound is extremely fat, round and 'smacky' in response with a wide dynamic range. The perfect blues/rock sound. Always defined but inclusive of all vintage elements that are so important to creating the right distortion.
With this setting you will get a clean and stable tone, without the partially lively vintage character. It has an explosively quick response, without sounding too harsh. It is fat and round like the Allman Brothers or Green.
The Gladius JTM models are classic tube amplifiers featuring different design details like output transformers and power tubes. The amplifiers are hand wired and have an aluminium chassis with aluminium end-blocks.
