IN FRANK VERRILLI'S WORDS
"I really like when a guitar has several distinct features all working together. My T/S 3 HUM model starts with the classic T shape, and adds the S style tummy and forearm cuts. Aside from its striking looks, it's really comfortable when either sitting or standing with it strapped on. Being mainly a strat guy, I didn't want to go too far from home, so I went with the traditional vintage trem style system (having the option of tieing the trem down to the body or having it float is becoming more of a neccessity with regard to exploring those different uses). The traditional placement of the controls is also something I prefer (easy access to the guitar's volume controls, push pull pots, etc...
"I wanted to be able to explore all the ranges of humbucker sounds and still get a single coil sound when desired...Fralins Unbuckers solved that riddle best (these are a custom set Lindy has helped me put together with the neck and middle "Unbuckers" splitting with the pushpull pots, a total of 11 different positions). Also, a lot of thought was given to the output, magnets, polarity, etc...
"Last and certainly not least, the Honduran mahogany neck and ebony board influence the tone greatly, giving it a distinct solid punchy sound (not like malple and not like rosewood, kind of in between...kind of).
"As with all my necks, the back of the neck is sanded and proplerly oiled to get even better with time. There is something about the red mahogany against the black headstock face, the aged satin black against all that oxidized hardware, and the heavy rolled edged black ebony board that just seems to make this more utilitarian, or a weapon of choice."
