This guitar features a knotty pine body with a '50s coral nitrocellulose lacquer finish that's been lightly relic'd and aged. The whole guitar weighs in at 7 lbs 2 oz total so it's LIGHT with great balance & no neck dive.
The beautiful birdseye maple neck has a nice chunky 'C' profile that's about .85" to .95". It's 1.73" at the bone nut with a 10" radius, 6125 frets and a 25.5" scale length with Kluson Revolution tuners.
The bridge pickup is a Jason Lollar 'Valco-Style' lap steel pickup which is very fat sounding with tons of sustain and punch. These are uniquely sensitive pickups which nail the vintage character and tone of the original design. Primarily used by slide players like Ry Cooder, Jason Isbell and Blake Mills, these lap steel pickups have a special magic with open tunings and bottleneck playing.
The neck pickup is a Lollar Gold Foil reproduction of the '60s Teisco model. It holds its own with the lap steel pickup with a sweet top end and clarity that provides a nice complement, tonally. Everything is wired up with CTS audio taper pots, an Oak Grigsby switch, an Emerson .047 paper-in-oil capacitor, Electrosocket jack and vintage-style cloth covered wire. There's also a great set of knobs from a Epiphone lap steel thrown in for good measure.
The chopped Tele bridge is custom machined for us and is made from 304 grade non-magnetic stainless steel (same as used on Mastery bridges) with compensated brass saddles. This bridge can also function as a top loader if you want to experiment with tone & string tension. The brass saddles are Gotoh "In Tune" saddles which are notched and compensated for accurate intonation.
